Datum One Surveys has successfully completed a comprehensive land survey project in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. The large-scale initiative spanned a total of 766 hectares across 13 landholdings. The fieldwork was distributed across several local areas, including the barangays of Minaba, Mandu-ao, Dawis, Banaybanay, Ali-is, Villasol, and Tabuan.

Field mobilization officially commenced in September 2025. Initial activities included boundary verification, establishment of geodetic control points, and detailed cadastral mapping. The surveys involved multiple titled properties, including TCTs and OCTs, supporting subdivision surveys, parcel delineation, and technical documentation necessary for the eventual issuance of individual land titles. The project was successfully completed in March 2026, producing technical datasets required for land documentation, mapping, and registration
activities.

Challenges and Field Conditions

Throughout the deployment, the field team navigated a variety of operational and environmental challenges. Early heavy rains heavily hindered field accessibility and delayed daily schedules, while the extreme heat of March presented safety risks for both personnel and technical equipment.

In addition to weather conditions, the team encountered localized resistance from certain occupants. These situations required careful, diplomatic handling through clear communication and proactive coordination with the concerned stakeholders. Logistical constraints also arose due to limited access to essential services, particularly during operations in Bocao, Brgy. Manduao, which impacted transportation and daily workflows.

Despite these challenges, all operational concerns were effectively addressed through adaptive planning, strong team coordination, and continuous field monitoring. Health and safety remained a priority throughout the deployment, with field personnel strictly adhering to established safety protocols and operational procedures.

Community Engagement and Field Experience

Beyond the technical deliverables, the project was marked by meaningful, positive interactions with the local community. The residents of Bayawan extended warm hospitality, welcoming the survey team with notable generosity and kindness. Local beneficiaries frequently provided meals, refreshments, and tokens of appreciation—such as fresh produce, rice, vegetables, fruits, and livestock. These simple gestures reflected the community’s gratitude, significantly boosting team morale and highlighting the positive social impact of the project at the grassroots level.

Furthermore, Datum One Surveys also expresses its appreciation to the concerned local offices, field coordinators, and technical personnel whose assistance and responsiveness contributed to the efficient conduct of the survey activities. Their support helped facilitate coordination efforts and ensured the smooth implementation of field operations.
